English Writing for Academic Pursuit familiarizes students with academic writing skills (e.g., summarizing, paraphrasing, paragraph structuring) and with respect to study-related genres: cover letters, curriculum vitae, autobiography, and SoP. Students will be provided with opportunities to cultivate their writing capabilities; to this end, students will be engaged in authentic case analyses and hands-on writing tasks via collaborative learning.
This course enables students to produce a portfolio where they adopt the learned skills to produce their study-related documents and tailor the writing to their target audiences. The ultimate goal is to encourage students to marry their inner selves with their professional images, to put their personal interests into professional perspectives, and to map out their academic visions and ambitions in light of accessible resources.
